Reverend Moon now in heaven?
03 September 2012
South Korea's economic miracle has not only produced leading enterprises like Samsung. The Unification Church, set up by Sun Myung Moon, also became a global business empire, setting up newspapers, arms factories, universities and food distributors.
Moon's church was most famous for marrying thousands of church members ("Moonies") in a single ceremony. It was also accused of brainwashing members, breaking up families and lining Moon's pockets.
Moon spent time in jail in the US, where he lived for many years, after being convicted of tax evasion in 1982. He also forged close ties with North Korea.
Following Moon's recent death at the age of 92, his family of 14 children are fighting each other for both his spiritual and financial legacy.
